And I know what you’re probably thinking: I have tried to approach my team with how to improve but they just keep giving me excuses.
But again, I’m going to show you a great way you can have your team members telling you how they can exceed expectations and get amazing results for their clients, not you telling them.
So the first secret is, You first need to understand their world.
The big idea here is that you need to provide an opportunity for them to openly discuss issues with you which will lead to you being able to openly provide guidance to them.
This is important because open and honest discussions don’t just happen, especially in the workplace. Us as healthcare business owners need to create space for this to take place and then it needs to happen on a regular basis!
The second secret is you have to be able to see the vision of each of your team members, what they want, and where they want to go.
The main thing to understand here is that you need to help them to set personal and professional goals and provide assistance in breaking these goals down into actionable steps.
Without setting the pathway on what is possible for them within your business, how can they see the possibilities with you and how can you expect them to stay engaged long term?.
The third secret is you need to set up regular one on one check in’s with each of your team members.
What happens when team members shrug off small problems for too long, they bottle them up and they become BIG issues. Also, challenges might be happening in their life and they haven’t had the opportunity to mention it yet and you’re there thinking to yourself. What happened to our superstar team member?
This is key to understand because most of the big issues with team members are avoided if identified and discussed earlier.
Now, I know what you’re thinking.
It’s I am already busy, I am already time poor, How am I going to find time to sit down with each team member one on one?.
Well, the tricky thing is that most people don’t spend anywhere near enough time on the things that actually matter in their business. Time excuses mean it’s not important enough, and to me team is everything, team is freedom. The more I focus on my team the more committed our team becomes. The more committed our team the better results for our clients. The better results for our clients the more successful our business. The more successful the business becomes the more successful you become.
